DEFINE THE PROBLEM
Discovery
Based on a simple observation made, I discovered several meaningful findings:
What I learned
☝🏻 New hires struggle to track their progress or receive timely feedback, leading to a loss of motivation with work.
☝🏻 Limited communication among team members can hinder project success.
Impact 💥
If the situation is not taken into consideration, the company might face a high turnover rate and eventually reduces the company’s overall productivity.

☝🏻 New hires often feel lost, isolated, and unwelcome, they often felt that they are not truly part of the company.
Initial Spark ✨
Based on the insights gathered, I aim to accomplish the following goals by the end of this project
☝🏻 An onboarding system that is simple, efficient, and easy to navigate independently.
☝🏻 Helps new employees connect with their team and coworkers so they feel supported and part of the group.
☝🏻 A system that stays in sync with employees’ ongoing tasks.

PROVING THE SOLUTION
After finishing the prototypes, I ran user tests to see if people could complete their tasks naturally. These sessions showed what worked, what needed improvement, and what opportunities to explore.
I asked users task-focused questions and observed how they interacted. This helped me understand their thinking, identify pain points, and refine the experience.

I made changes based on user testing feedback. Many users found the AI chatbot confusing and unnecessary, which showed an opportunity to rethink or simplify that feature.
“If I have a question, I’d rather go straight to someone on Teams, Slack, or Google Chat. The AI chatbot doesn’t always give a clear answer, so it feels like a waste of time and unnecessary.”

CONCLUSION
Based on the insights gathered, I aim to accomplish the following goals by the end of this project
☝🏻 80% of users reported that Ascend helps them keep up with their own and their team’s deadlines, making it easier to deliver work on time.
☝🏻 75% of users claimed Ascend has made onboarding process less overwhelming and more clarity about their roles.
☝🏻 85% of hybrid and remote users said Ascend helps streamline communication with coworkers, strengthen teamwork, and build a stronger sense of belonging.
